According to Gita, Hindu scriptures, one exists as individual soul, whose ultimate goal is to achieve freedom from cycle of birth and death, and return to the “Supreme Spirit – Brahma.”

Soul is imperishable, indestructible, and eternal in existence. The soul never slays nor is slain. The soul never takes birth and never dies. The soul is never destroyed when the body is destroyed. Weapons cannot harm the soul, fire cannot burn the soul, water cannot wet and air cannot dry up the soul. The soul is eternal, all pervading, unmodifiable, immovable, and primordial.

For one who has taken birth, death is certain. The soul, however, is immutable.

Hindu philosophy teaches that the soul is able to achieve freedom, either by devotion, sacrifice of fruit of work, acquisition of wisdom through knowledge, or all of the above. The soul is permitted to return to a new body and given opportunity to try again and again until its goal is reached.

Navin, it is said that one who is not agitated by others, in whose presence others are not agitated, and one who is freed from mundane pleasures, anger, fear, and anxiety – such a one is very dear to God.

Navin, you are such a person. You have left wonderful memories for all of us – your children, your family, and your friends. Wherever you have gone, you brought smile on everyone’s face. You have lived well and your life is a testimony to that. Even your quick exit from this world is afforded only to few good souls. It was almost as if God had been impatiently awaiting your arrival!

Time has come for you to commence your final journey, for your soul to return to the Supreme Spirit.

We are all gathered here to bid you farewell and final goodbye. Rest in peace forever.
